Anne et Valentin Trunk Show 2-11-12

Join us at Wink for this very special opportunity to preview (and pre-order) the Spring and Summer 2012 collection from our beloved Anne et Valentin!  A trunk show is the only time we can special order a frame for our clients so it’s a great opportunity to shop for a new look.

Face of the Day: Debbie Updegraff

Aren’t we lucky that this super fun lady is the person responsible for the juvenile books collections for the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library.  Debbie’s days are filled with dinosaurs, jokes, pets, wizards and such, and her nights and weekends are jammed with adult interests like live music and photography.  We felt this adorable Anne et Valentin “Amy” easily fit into both worlds.  Classic and timeless tortoise sculpted to a shape of whimsy with a splash of green at the temples seems to say “hey, I’m fun AND fashionable and I can recount every member of House Gryffindor or sing along to Wilco!”  We like it!

Many Flex plans will expire in December

Many do not realize that prescription eyewear (including prescription sunglasses and prescription reading glasses) are considered eligible purchases under all flexible spending accounts.

Flexible Spending Accounts (also known as cafeteria plans) are great!  They let us defer income pretax and set it aside in an account for payment of medical or healthcare related expenses.  Unfortunately there is a small catch.  Since it is a tax deferred account, the IRS has strict limitations of the time that we have to use these funds.   These funds are usable in a 365 day period and to make things simple most plan administrators choose a period of January 1 to December 31 as the effective plan year.  Anything left in the account and not claimed by the plan expiration date is forfeited to the plan administrator and can even then be considered as taxable income on the employee’s payroll taxes.

Use your balance by December 31, 2011 to insure that your expenses are covered this plan year.

Check with your plan administrator for exact dates and rules for your individual plan.

Frame of the Day 12.10.11

Today we are featuring not one frame but a series of hot new frames from J.F. Rey that feature mildly modern matte aluminum temples in cool contrast to the warm plastic fronts in classic wearable shapes.  Mike is modeling a version here in blue streaked tortoise with racy thin blue lines cutting down the length of the temples.  We think it looks sleek and fast and fashion forward, not retro, and we like it!
