Frame of the Day 12.10.11

Today we are featuring not one frame but a series of hot new frames from J.F. Rey that feature mildly modern matte aluminum temples in cool contrast to the warm plastic fronts in classic wearable shapes.  Mike is modeling a version here in blue streaked tortoise with racy thin blue lines cutting down the length of the temples.  We think it looks sleek and fast and fashion forward, not retro, and we like it!

J.F. Rey – Twin Design

Senorita, mas fina!  Here at Wink eyewear we come across a lot of frames that carry their own personality & spark.  Sanguine white folds over and interlaces with a rufescent punk-rock pink to create the flirtiest frame we’ve seen in awhile!  Jean-Francois Rey and his team continue to create incredibly unique eyewear with jaw-dropping handiwork and architecture.  This piece wears her heart on her sleeve as she sashays her way down the street.  She wants you to look — admiring her asymmetrical whimsy — for she’s a woman who’s got her own style that’s constantly in flux.  And that is why we stop to ask, “Now who’s that girl?!”

Philippe Starck – Alux color

Our dreams of an eternal summer may never materialize but the spirit of fresh fun in the sun lives on in the Starck Alux collection. Lustrous hues and ingenious design come together in an unbelievably comfortable frame. You need not be as clumsy as Philippe to benefit from his no-screw contortionist temple-hinge design. Anodized aluminum creates a lightweight frame and a canvas for quite honestly the most vibrant matte palette we’ve seen!

Java, from Boz. As her name suggests, we think the designer that came up with this romantic little frame was up way too late one night and had a bit to much of the “java.”

Asymmetry is key in the design of this wearable artform. Meticulously handcrafted from the highest quality precious resin in black, white and lime, Java sports a petal motif on the front and a single butterfly on just the right temple.
